Apest Delivers Fire Safety Excellence for RAF Leeming in £3.1M MOD Project
Published: 03/07/2025
In another milestone for Apest's growing reputation in fire safety and compliance, the company has successfully completed a major Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) project at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire. Commissioned by the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the £3.1 million undertaking was delivered on time and under budget strengthening a trusted relationship and reaffirming Apest’s credentials in the public sector.
Over a six month schedule, the project navigated strict security, compliance, and technical expectations. Apest’s BM Trada accredited FRA Project Team spearheaded the initiative, which included:
- Replacement of fire doors and loft hatches
- Maintenance works to existing fire doors
- Implementation of fire stopping measures
By hitting every programme milestone while maintaining full regulatory compliance, the team demonstrated its ability to balance delivery speed, cost efficiency, and technical excellence in a high-stakes environment.
What sets Apest apart is its in-house delivery model, which ensures seamless coordination across all phases of a project. For RAF Leeming, enabling and finishing works were carried out by Apest’s specialist departments:
- Electrical
- Painting
- Damp & Mould remediation
This vertically integrated structure ensures consistent quality across disciplines, fewer subcontractor dependencies, and greater control over timelines.
Central to Apest’s success on this project was its door manufacturing facility in Lenham, Kent. All fire doors used during the installation were produced internally giving Apest full control over quality assurance, volume capacity, and delivery logistics.
“Our ability to produce fire doors in-house gives us a strategic edge,” said the MD Daniel Dawkins. “It enables us to deliver on tight schedules without compromising on safety or compliance.”
Building on the success of RAF Leeming, Apest continues to grow its portfolio of fire safety and compliance works across sectors. The company is actively inviting enquiries from new and returning clients, with a commitment to excellence backed by certifications, experienced personnel, and end-to-end service delivery.
