Apest joins the fight to remove mould from homes alongside the Shepherds Bush Housing Group

Published: 03/02/2023

Apest has started a significant project alongside Shepherds Bush Housing Group to tackle the fight against mould in homes starting with a huge 900 properties.

Following the tragic death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak, who passed away in 2022 after living in a mould-infested home, Shepherds Bush Housing Group, alongside the majority of UK housing associations, are incredibly focused on ensuring their residents are not living with the dangers of mould. The first step taken by Shepherds Bush Housing Group was to appoint experts Apest to carry out an initial 900 mould washes and gutter clearances to ensure their residents are living in acceptable and safe environments.

Awaab Ishak tragically lost his life in 2022 following mould inhalation.

Daniel Dawkins, Managing Director of Apest, explains, “The devastating loss of Awaab Ishak last year has created awareness of the dangers of mould, and in the last few months, we have seen a significant rise in the number of enquiries coming through to our office from housing associations looking to take additional measures to prevent any further loss of life.”

As a multidisciplinary property renovation hub, Apest, part of the Arvag Group, has been delivering mould washes and gutter clearance to housing associations since 2012, alongside other core services such as; FRA, building and construction, electrical services, and pest control.
